Maria Solis
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, April 11, 2017

(04/09/17 Insider Obituary Archives) - Maria Solis, 69, of Lockney, passed away on April 7, 2017.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Lockney. Interment will follow at Lockney Cemetery under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview.

There will be a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, April 10, 2017 at Primera Iglesia Bautista in Lockney.

Maria was born on January 28, 1948 in San Jose Reyes, Durango, Mexico to Cirilo Ochoa and Concepción Fraire. She married Jesús Solis on June 20, 1965. Over the span of 52 years, they built a beautiful family of five sons and two daughters which grew into a family of 44. Her family describes her as a caring, loving, selfless person. She enjoyed cooking for anyone who came into her home. Maria cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was always eager to take care of them. She had a great sense of humor and a sharp wit which she passed on to her children. The love that surrounded her could be felt by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Yared Piñon; 3 sisters and 1 brother.

Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Jesús; two daughters, Mabel "Eloisa" Hernandez & husband Manuel of Plainview and Marissa Piñon; five sons, Gerardo Solis & wife Maria of Lockney, Jesús Solis, Jr. & wife Leticia of Cedar Hill, Lupe Solis & wife, Elida of Plainview, Rufino Solis & wife Maria of Lubbock and Sergio Solis & wife Tasha of Lockney. She is also survived by three sisters, Raquel Ochoa, Olga Ochoa and Santiaga Ochoa as well as 25 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
