Juan Castillo, Sr.
Prayer Services will be Thursday, July 6, 2017

(07/04/17 Insider Obituary Archives) - Juan Castillo, Sr., 89, of Plainview, passed away on July 4, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.

A Prayer Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2017 in the Lemons Memorial Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2017 in the Lemons Memorial Chapel with Pastor Steve Martinez officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the personal care of Lemons Funeral Home.

Juan was born on May 16, 1928 in Atascosa, Texas to Isabel and Isidra (Bonilla) Castillo. He met his bride, Ofelia Martinez at church and loved her for all these years. They married on November 9, 1963 in Lockney. Together they raised a beautiful family of five sons and five daughters. Their love story lasted over 54 years. They attended Rose of Sharon Pentecostal Church.

Juan was a Dairy Farmer in Finney for many years. He was an avid fan of WWE and Western Movies. Having grown up with a father who was a baseball pitcher, he always enjoyed watching baseball. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Juan Castillo, Jr.; one grandson, James Mata; great-grandson, Joseph Mata; five brothers, Ramon Castillo, Isabel Castillo, Felipe Castillo, Julian Castillo and Isidro Castillo and four sisters, Ramona Castillo, Catalina Alaniz, Rosa Martinez and Victoria "Vita" Guerra.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Ofelia, of the home; four sons, Isabel Castillo, Pete Castillo and wife Diana, Rene Castillo and wife Donna, all of Plainview and Daniel Castillo and wife Geri of Guymon Oklahoma; five daughters, Marina Herrera and husband Frank of Lubbock, Margarita Castillo, Irene Lucio and husband Rick, Tina Nicholas and husband Jay and Dina Castillo, all of Plainview; two brothers, Fidencio Castillo of Georgia and Frank Castillo of Plainview and three sisters, Inez Hernandez of Plainview, Dominga Maisonet of Lubbock and Olegaria Maldonado of New Jersey. He is also survived by 32 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
