Dennis Smith
Memorial Services will be Thursday, February 8, 2018

(02/06/18 Insider Obituary Archives) - Dennis Smith, age 76, passed from this life on Monday, February 5, 2018.

Dennis was born on September 27, 1941 in Fort Lewis, WA. He graduated from Ramona High School in Riverside, CA in 1959 and later attended Riverside City College and West Texas State University in Canyon. He married Sandy Blythe on March 26, 1964.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Audrey and Delbert Smith.

Dennis established Plainview Athletics in 1973. After retirement Dennis continued to operate an awards and engraving business. He loved working with anyone interested in the art of fly fishing, building custom fly rods and tying trout flies. He was awarded the Friend of 4-H in both Hale and Floyd Counties, as well as the Spur Clip Award for his support to 4-H.

Survivors are his wife of fifty three years, three daughters, Kelly and husband Heath Bozeman of Plainview, Kaycee and husband Jeff Buckley of Melissa, Texas and Kristi and husband Brock Allen of Windsor, Colorado; Four grandchildren, Heather Bozeman, Benjamin Bozeman, Hanna Bozeman of Plainview and Evan Buckley of Melissa, Texas; one brother, Terry Smith of Homosassa, Florida, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his faithful dogs, Charlie, Whiz and Trey.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 8, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church in Plainview. A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2018 from 6 to 8:00 P.M. at Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.
